If he would waive his NMC, I am sure he would find a team that would want him. Does he go to FA and decide one more year anyway?

Holy cow the Jets and G-men suck...you all better hope your unproven commodities pan out cause if they don't and the rangers blow still then I truly feel bad for y'all...
P.s. Eichel would far and away be the best player on the rangers..never gonna get him, especially with the clown offers I've seen here.

P.p.s. little upset I didn't get the invite for the Hbuzz draft.

Enjoy the rest of the football season suckers

I have too many thoughts and emotions to put in writing.
I like Georgiev, but I don’t see him as irreplaceable. I am shocked that there was never any other solution.

I'm sure the Rangers talked to him about being a back up, a trade or retirement. He probably didn't want any of those things and forced the Rangers hand. Oh well, it is what it is.

Mr Zibanejad and Mr Panarin might disagree with you there.

What would be a fair offer then in your mind?

No one was invited, blog was posted asking for interest level and commenters etc. reached out to participate.

I would hope all options were explored. But Hank has a NMC that would have to be waived and teams would be on hook for $4.25 mil in salary with a trade.

I doubt they got any offers even he’d waive, I bet he wants to play one more year and no one is gonna give up anything.

End of a bitter era as far as I’m concerned. It wasn’t ever really his fault, but I’m thrilled to be moving on from Hank. Hopefully his number is retired as soon as he does

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I disagree. Maybe the best player, maybe. Definitely not far and away. And I’m not even sure which guy I think might be better!

p.s. - (frank) off

Kinda disappointed we had to buy him out but I guess if he “retired” he wouldn’t be able to sign with another team this upcoming season.

Oh, I know all the particulars. I guess I’m not a good business man, but all the circumstances and optics mean enough to me that I would have had him as the back up for one year.

Maybe, fan in me hates seeing him go. Business side due to the cap, understand why it's happening. Doesn't mean I like it.

Like Tony said in the last thread, he could always join his brother in Frolunda.
I saw a rumor that Holtby is going to test the market and they Caps are high on this Samsanov kid, so Hank mentoring him could be an option if he's bought out.

If Shesty wasn't here, and I'm thrilled he is, I probably wouldn't have a problem with Hank hanging around for one more year.
Sad to see it end this way.

Henrik is my all-time favorite hockey player period. Even knowing it was possible/likely it is really hard to swallow and come to terms with.

Emotions aside, I know it was said that NY would not enter next season with 3 goalies, but with Staal being moved for free what are they desperately needing that 3M for?

Bonus cushion?
Fast resigned?
Strome and TDA resigning and we are underestimating their deals?
All of the above?

I just assumed that Staal moving for free changed things a bit

I'm so sick of dead cap space, it's not even that great of a savings. And another 1 .5 next year. So (frank)ing annoying with more buyouts. Especially when the Rangers still have the cap hit of a cup winner on the books. 13 mil in dead cap space.

Look at the New England Patriots as a model. They get rid of popular players ( even Tom Brady! ) all the time. Why? Because they want to keep WINNING!

Hank is an all-time Ranger, no doubt, but he had to go --- it was time! He and his contract were standing in the way of future winning. Some may say: "Hanks different, he earned a better send off" --- I call BS. He is 38 years old, his skills have CLEARLY diminished and his time is up in NY, plain and simple. I wish him him the best, but lets move FORWARD!

They get savings this year tho. There was no other option, it’s simple as that he had to go. His contract was a year to long 🤷🏻‍♂️
